Subject outline

The subject New Documentary 2 further extends the exploration of contemporary modes of photographic practice that engage with theoretical and technical aspects that expand on the traditions of investigative visual culture. New technologies and modes in which they are used for documentary projects are investigated, analysed and evaluated. Students are challenged with technical and conceptual methodologies to engage contemporary issues with narratives # be they small and personal or large-scale worldwide discussions # through varying lens-based techniques. Assignments are associated with photographic archives and choreography in relation to both subject matter and photographic technique.The subject is designed to have a cross-campus itinerary that expands on student engagement with place and community in a globalised context.
