Subject outline

Applied Design 3 builds on a wide range of skills in digital technologies through assigned and self directed projects incorporating image manipulation and design, and consolidates expertise in the creative use of digital tools essential to the professional practice of communication through, both file preparation for print, and for real-time digital presentation. This subject ensures a full-working knowledge of production techniques for industry based outcomes: photography for presentation, typographic application and creative conceptualization. Scanning, re-screening, image manipulation, layers, clipping paths, file management and production for real-time presentations are essential skills to be mastered in this subject. Through a sequence of applied projects practical experience is developed in preparing graphics suitable for the production of contemporary digital media: web techniques and digital animation technologies.
