Students will acquire the beginning skills and knowledge to assess the multi-faceted needs of people from across the lifespan. Students will determine both internal and external services required to meet those diverse needs. Students will develop and practice a wide range of beginning level assessment skills required across community and social services and detail aspects and variations of human development and functioning. Students are to demonstrate knowledge of organizational requirements including standards, policies and procedures (including mandatory reporting), and appropriate service response/s to multiple and/or complex needs. Students will identify potential biopsychosocial factors as they undertake assessments and identify appropriate referral and the level and provision of care by the placement agency. Evidence will also include student application of strengths-based approach across the client assessment process and the ability to analysis critical information regarding the influence/ impact of co-existing issues.
