GENDERING IN A GLOBAL CONTEXT
SOC3GGC
2017
Credit points: 15
Subject outline
This subject examines gendered processes and discourses, constructions of nationhood and citizenship, and forms of activism embedded in the transnational political economy. It draws on postcolonial, citizenship, migration and gender studies to explore the engendering of social processes within and beyond nation-states. Students will develop their capacity to critically assess the impacts of global transformation and conflict through the examination of, for example, global care chains, labour and urban migration, militarism, sexual tourism, and political movements.
