Subject outline

This subject forms one part of a two subject sequence with OCT5RBA. These subjects have a combined assessment. Students are required to conduct an empirical research project and submit a 20,000 word thesis in the field of occupational therapy. A critical appraisal of the relevant literature must be included. Supervision is provided by staff with clinical and research expertise. This subject includes online support materials.

Practice and implement relevant recuitment, data collection and analytic techniques with guidance of thesis supervisor(s)

02. Analyse, evaluate and apply knowledge about the ethical considerations in human research to design and conduct a small-scale research project

Activities:
Completion of applicable human research ethics application and reporting requirements with thesis supervisor(s)

03. Critically appraise and synthesize theoretical and research literature relevant to defining the research issue/problem and its significance

Activities:
Preparing drafts of literature review, and working through drafts with thesis supervisor(s)

04. Critically reflect on, synthesize and effectively communicate the rationale, implementation and results of a small-scale research project

Activities:
Oral presentation of completed research

05. Critically evaluate and report the conduct a small-scale research project, its outcomes and implications for occupational therapy practice and/or practice in written form

Activities:
Preparation of research report in thesis format
