Subject outline

Sports reporting is still news reporting, but it does require an understanding of sports-specific news values. This subject will introduce you to sports-specific news values through some of the most common forms of reporting in sport, press conference reporting, match reporting, profile pieces and live crosses. This subject also explores the context in which sports journalists work, focusing on the major changes in the relationship between sports organisations and the media that cover them in the 21st century. In particular, it explores the implications of sports organisations own media platforms and public relations staff on sports journalists' work.
