Subject outline
This subject is based around developing the skills you need to read modern Hindi texts. By using texts as exemplars of contemporary Hindi language and perspectives on South Asian society, the subject will enable students to access a wide range of modern Hindi usages. We will read modern texts on topics such as the partition of India and Pakistan, traditional urban and rural lifestyles, and contemporary issues related to the caste system. We will also explore issues related to vocabulary, usage and idiom. In addition the subject will focus on the development of active language skills in both oral and written forms. It is recommended that student take AST2MMA with this subject.
