RESEARCH BEYOND BORDERS

HMK3RBB

2017

Credit points: 15

This subject addresses La Trobe's Global Citizenship Essential. Global Citizenship is about learning to live in an interconnected world, including the social, environmental, political and economic challenges this brings.

Subject outline

Students in Research Beyond Borders are introduced to the exciting world of global research and varying contexts. Is interdisciplinary research or even discipline-specific research conducted differently overseas? How does research compare between University and non-University sectors? As a prelude to the International Study tour, students will prepare a research brief which appraises the challenges and opportunities of conducting research in a global context. Students will also collate research findings on topics relating to the study tour theme and present them in an online format. Using the knowledge and experience they have gained throughout the Hallmark Program, students will evaluate their research projects from the previous year in an international context, develop their digital literacy proficiency and present their findings to a forum of their peers with a view to online publication.
