This subject addresses La Trobe's Sustainability Thinking Essential. Sustainability Thinking entails deep appreciation of how the choices we make affects the natural, economic, social, political and cultural systems — now and in the future.

Subject outline

Students in the Craft of Research work in teams to develop a research proposal around a topic of their choice. Students have the opportunity to explore different approaches to research and discover which approaches are appropriate to specific fields of study and research questions. Students will have opportunities to work with top researchers from La Trobe's research priority areas. Towards the end of the subject, student teams will present their proposal to a panel of senior La Trobe staff.

Seminar program (including Q&A) with top RFA researchers

Activities:
Student teams chair seminars from researchers, including asking questions of presenter

Activities:
Student teams collaborate on research proposal and presentation, with iterative feedback from teaching team; reflections on working as a team.

05. Present your research proposal to a judging panel

Activities:
Students practice their presentation in class with teaching team before pitching their research proposals to a judging panel of senior staff
