Subject outline

In this subject students undertake written and oral exercises to consolidate and develop the linguistic and communicative skills gained in first semester, further enhancing fluency and accuracy and enabling them to attain B2 level in the Common European Framework. These include discussions on topics of social, cultural and political significance. Aural comprehension activities develop listening accuracy, and also involve authentic audio-visual materials include discussions on topics of social, cultural and political significance. Written work includes grammar exercises involving more sophisticated structures, analysis of complex authentic texts, and compositions demonstrating enhanced argumentative skills. By broadening the range of genres and styles studied, students improve reading comprehension and build on skills in critical analysis acquired in first semester.
