ELE4DES

2017

Credit points: 15

Subject outline

This unit creates awareness of industry needs around issues in mass production, including operations management. As such it is structured in two main parts. The major part (70%) addresses electronic manufacturing processes, including product development, design for manufacturability (DFM), PCB manufacture and assembly, testing, SMT, ESD, EMC and the related standards, automation, JIT, TQM, management of processes, PCB design/CAD tools and value added manufacturing. The other part(30%) focuses on the operations management aspects of manufacturing, including organisation, strategy, economics/accounting, supply chain, TQM and other facets of effectively managing the manufacturing operation.
