Subject outline
In this subject students will develop the skills established in previous clinical placement subjects. The subject has four modules. Clinical operative entry level skills, including paediatric treatment, radiography, treatment planning approaches and theories of minimal intervention, will be introduced and linked to simulated clinical procedures. Students will be introduced to the specialities of Dentistry and how they interrelate to each other and general clinical practice. Emphasis will be on the speciality of periodontics, including advanced instrumentation. Clinical exposure will begin by way of non-invasive sessions, with a focus on desired professional attributes of the clinician, development of knowledge of materials and armamentarium, infection control procedures and documentation of a dental record.
