Subject outline
This subject is intended to provide engineering students with fundamentals of surveying, some practical skills in using standard engineering surveying equipment. Furthermore, an introduction to GIS (geographic information systems) and GPS (global positioning systems) will be covered where more focus will be placed on practical applications of these techniques in surveying field. The subject is delivered by a combination of lectures, workshop sessions and campus practical exercises.

02. Competently determine the location and/or heights of points to third order accuracy, using the appropriate datums and descriptors.
- Activities:
- Positioning tothird order accuracy will be explained in online modules and reinforced in workshops. The practical application of this will be used in workshop sessions and practical sessions. Assessment will be through practical reports, online activities and examination.
