Subject outline

The Studio Practice subjects in first year introduce students to creative thinking and arange of mediums and methods, which will form the basis of their studio practice and investigations throughout the course. Through a range of activities including short intensive projects, lectures, workshops and critique sessions students will develop both technical and conceptual skills for their studio practice. The subject will encourage experimentation; develop an understanding of the potential of mediums; and introduce students to critical and reflective thinking within a contemporary art context. Thinking creatively and conceptually and producing creative work in response to this is the focus of the skills and concept development in this first semester subject.
