2016
Credit points: 15
Subject outline
Design Studies 1 is an introduction of visual concepts through theoretical considerations and the application of design elements. Conceptual development is applied to design as links between visual image, text and ideas are constructed through applied projects. Design projects are developed from industry-based briefs that introduce students to critical and experimental approaches to design thinking. By exploring different approaches to composition, spatial layout, scale, placement, structure, colour, texture, form and image, students build a foundation for critical design thinking and reflective evaluation to creative work in the field.
