Subject outline
This subject will consolidate students' learning on self-management, critical reflection and analysis, and developing strategies for using this knowledge to improve practice in situations involving risk and complexity. It attends to the capabilities expected of front-line practitioners with reference to vicarious trauma, emotional intelligence, influence of family of origin, culture and other personal narratives on self-management. Knowledge, skills and strategies needed for self-management and mental agility will be developed in relation to the complexity and risks involved in several key areas of practice content including family violence, parental substance misuse, and excluded families whose children suffer cumulative harm.
