In this subject, students are introduced to basic statistical concepts and methods as they are applied in the field of health. At the completion of the subject, students should be able to: Distinguish and summarise basic data types (binary, categorical, continuous)Understand the concepts of sampling variability and statistical powerDescribe how simple statistical analyses of sample data can be used to draw inferences about population parametersCalculate standard errors and confidence intervals for estimated means and proportionsUnderstand the role of p-valuesDistinguish between clinical relevance and statistical significance
