Subject outline
In this subject students will build on concepts presented in Ocular Physiology and Vision Science, and Clinical Anatomy and Neurosciences. Students will develop an understanding of disorders of the afferent and efferent visual pathways. Within this context, cortical and subcortical control, pathways and functions of the different types of eye movement systems will also be investigated. Using an enquiry based learning program; students will integrate theoretical concepts with practical instrumentation and clinical techniques to interpet clinical findings for the diagnosis and management of neuro-ophthalmic disorders. This subject will equip students to progress to the Orthoptic Clinical Practice subjects.

04. Instruct and monitor a patient with a neurological complaint during their assessment, and adapt or revise the test process as required, to achieve the most reliable results.

05. Record, interpret and synthesise test findings, and develop a summary of the patients's results and be able to report results verbally and in writing to the patient and colleagues using contextually sensitive terminology.
