In this subject, students explore the fundamental principles of public law in Australian and overseas jurisdictions and amongst diverse cultures. 'Public law' can be defined as the body of legal rules that govern the relationship between the state and its citizens and the relationship between the institutions of the state. i.e., the legislative, executive and judicial arms of government. Public law concerns itself with the nature, sources and extent of state power to ensure that the power exercised is authorised and so legitimate.
