Subject outline
In this subject students explore the impact of organisational contexts on social work practice. They analyse the structure and dynamics of 21st century organisations and the role human service organisations take in implementing social policies. Students are introduced to the changing organisational context in which social workers are employed. Students identify how to work effectively in and alongside organisations. Partnerships and collaborations between organisations and the impact of these arrangements on practice are addressed. Students examine organisational cultures, change and the role of clients in organisations. Effective leadership in organisations and the role of supervision for learning and accountability are emphasised.
