Subject outline
Issues and crisis will provide the theoretical background along with the necessary practical strategies and tactics for effective communication during a major issue or crisis. Crisis management is the process by which an organisation such as a government, corporation or not-for-profit deals with a major event that threatens to harm the organisation. It will study the development of crisis management which originated with the large scale industrial and environmental disasters in the 1980s. Through a series of case studies, it will focus on new developments in crisis management in a social media age and examine practical and innovative ways that these issues can be managed. It will encompass the development of emerging crisis siutations such as cyber-crime and terrorism.
