Subject outline
This subject will help students to understand global issues that are relevant to their discipline. In addition, the students will develop key skills on cross cultural understanding and moral responsibilities underpinning their future careers in global terms. Students will undertake a study tour of three weeks duration and team up with undergraduate students from an overseas partner institution with which LTU has entered into a memorandum of understanding. Students will learn about professional business conduct and etiquette overseas, and develop skills co-operating as a group during the study tour. Students will develop an understanding of cultural issues and cultural diversity in the study tour country through the creation of a daily reflective journal and post-tour individual presentation sharing experiences in a class. The study tour will be offered outside of normal teaching weeks with a pre-departure session on the Melbourne campus followed by a visit to the international country, and a follow-up debriefing on return. Assessments will include two written reports (2000 words each). #####
