SOFT TISSUE MANAGEMENT
PTY3STM
2015
Credit points: 15
Subject outline
In this subject students will learn core knowledge and skills for the management of soft tissues including the pathogenesis of common soft tissue injuries and normal healing processes for different tissue types. Students will learn clinical assessment strategies and how to apply treatment strategies to enhance healing processes, and assist rehabilitation, including manual therapy, electrotherapy, and exercise. As well, there will be emphasis on predisposing and preventative factors. Reference to the WHO International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health, and pain, as a multidimensional experience, will reinforce the need for a patient-centred approach to the management of soft tissue pathology.
