Subject outline
In this subject, students are introduced to qualitative methods and the opportunities for applying these in the health field. An overview of the research being conducted in health is used to identify the real and potential role of qualitative methods such as ethnography, interview methods, unobtrusive methods, online research and arts-based methods. Processes of qualitative methods are covered, including identifying a research problem, thinking about methodological framework, sampling and rigour, collecting data, analysing data, and writing up a thesis.
