Subject outline

Contemporary professional nursing requires that practice be informed by the best available evidence in the delivery of patient care, administration of nursing services and education of nurses. In order to practise, using the best available evidence, it is necessary to understand the process and language of research. This subject provides students with the opportunity to develop the research literacy necessary for critical consumership in the context of evidence-based practice. The principles of qualitative and quantitative methodology, research design, ethics, sampling and data collection and analysis will be examined.
