Subject outline

In this subject students are provided with further instruction in Indonesian with a continuing emphasis on developing skills in listening, speaking, writing, and reading on topics related to self, family, friends and common everyday activities. These skills will be developed using a variety of authentic audio-visual texts and task based communicative activities. This subject will also be offered as an intensive summer subject from week 5 to week 7 in 2015.

Activities:
Pair speaking tasks, group role plays, responding to aural or visual stimulus, oral presentation on a small research project. Peer assessment and self-assessment activities, learning journal, and classroom listening, speaking, reading and writing tasks.

03. To find, critically evaluate, and manage information retrieved from texts (aural, written, and visual) and to apply their understanding of these texts in written and spoken contexts.

Activities:
Reading short authentic texts, producing short written pieces using dictionary & grammar books where appropriate, reflecting on process and progress in learning (learning journal), and using learning journal as an aid to plan future learning activities.

04. To develop interest in Indonesian and Indonesia and apply knowledge of Indonesian to simple communication problems encountered in class, while doing homework, while completing assessment.

Information gap activities, engaging in "what if activities involving pair and groups and all four macro skills (e.g. reading, writing, speaking, listening), using learning journal to document problems and plan next steps.
