Subject outline
This subject prepares students to contribute to the continual evolution of speech pathology practice. Building on learning from HCS4ACS, HCS5AIA, HCS5AIB and HCS5TIM, students extend, apply and adapt their knowledge of speech pathology assessment, intervention and management of communication & swallowing disorders to advanced and emerging areas of speech pathology practice. In this subject, students participate in an intensive week of seminars and workshops facilitated by academic and professional leaders in the field. They also develop a professional resource for an area of advanced speech pathology practice and gain experience in presenting the key components of their resource to an audience of peers and experienced speech pathologists. This subject meets requirements of the La Trobe Essentials for the FUTURE READY program: Global Citizenship, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Sustainability Thinking. Inter-professional practice is also addressed in all components of this subject.
