TEACHER AS RESEARCHER PROJECT
EDU4TRP
2015
Credit points: 15
Subject outline
In this subject students are introduced to the notion of teacher as researcher and investigate methods for conducting teacher research and issues associated with undertaking research in teaching and learning. Students develop a research question that addresses a current educational issue drawing on high-quality sources to justify research focus; design an appropriate methodology or framework addressing the topic or question; critically appraise the sourced information; and using discipline conventions, formulate a conclusion based on an evaluation of the outcome of the inquiry. Students produce a clear, concise and coherently written research report that conforms to academic conventions. Students conceptualise how research by teachers in their own classrooms can improve understanding of teaching and learning through a teacher's work in both formal and informal contexts.
