Subject outline

In this subject, students will develop an understanding of nutrition requirements and physiological changes across the lifespan: pre-conception, pregnancy & foetal development, lactation, infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood and ageing as well as special situations including nutrition for sport. Students will also learn about food and nutrition dietary patterns across the different life stages. Students will be able to combine prior nutritional and biosciences knowledge and skills with the new material to gain a more indepth understanding of human nutritional needs, requirements and habits.

Subject rules

Prerequisites Must be enrolled in HMDP- Master of Dietetics Practice. If the students is enrolled in HZHSDP- Bachelor of Health Science and Master of Dietetic Practice or HZNDP - Bachelor of Applied Science and Master of Dietetic Practice then must pass 240 credit points. If the student is enrolled in HBHN - Bachelor of Human Nutrition then must pass DTN2PNU and DTN3NDS or HBS2PTB. All other students require subject coordinator approval.
