Subject outline

Students undertake a research project across both CSE5RTA and CSE5RTB which is the equivalent of eight or nine months of continuous work under the supervision of a member of staff. Students will continue working on their research topic which was commenced in CSE5TRA. At the completion of CSE5RTB, each student will produce a final thesis on a topic relevant to bioinformatics or biometric security and present the technical contributions at a seminar.

01. Design and implement the proposed algorithms or a system for a specific defined problem.

Activities:
Weekly discussion sessions with supervisor on available techniques and algorithms that can be used and extended to solve the problem statement.

02. Evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithms or a framework with sufficient comparisons.

Activities:
Tutorial sessions on available performance evaluation and analysis tools Weekly discussions with supervisor on the formal ways to perform result analysis and comparative study.

03. Produce scientific reports describing research methodology, design, implementation and final results consistent with reports in the Computer Science discipline.

Activities:
On-line materials available on LMS which describe (with some examples) the ways to present scientific methods and findings in a logical and structural way as required for the thesis.
