Subject outline

Studio based design practice encouraging individual students to investigate areas of diversity within the communication industry. The project material attempted in this unit is designed to challenge the student and develop the ability to visualise creative solutions to given design problems. Communication is simple — PROBLEM: a message is to be delivered [research, consultation] MEDIUM: a decision how the message will be delivered is made [creative] SOLUTION: the message is delivered and received [media] OUTCOME: the message was accepted, and understood [closure] Students learn how to - evaluate solutions to communication problems, rationalise intentions, discuss effectiveness outcomes. - communicate design intentions in appropriate and professional language -create professional design solutions and presentation material -develop individual approaches to design practice with particular attention to discipline sectors
