Subject outline
This subject will provide students with an in-depth understanding of a range of different approaches to psychological intervention for psychological and behavioural problems. The main focus will be on psychological interventions for individuals but the subject will also explore group and public health interventions designed to change behaviour. The theoretical and empirical support for different intervention strategies will be explored and students will have opportunities to analyse the merits or otherwise of particular approaches. Students will learn to apply basic listening skills required in helping situations and explore effective strategies to motivate behaviour change.
