Subject outline
This subject will provide a lens into understanding communities - how they are formed, populated, and developed. It will explore the way different communities function and deal with a range of social, economic, cultural, political, sustainability and environmental issues. It will introduce students to the theories of community development and provide practical examples as to how community development can act as a mechanism to empower people and their communities to be stronger, more resilient and build capacity. The subject will draw upon examples from urban, rural and regional Australia and also from overseas.
