Subject outline
In this subject, students will undertake three online modules. In the first module students explore the history, development and uses of epidemiology, learn basic epidemiological concepts and are introduced to health surveillance and basic ethical principals pertinent to public health. In the second module students are introduced to tools, souces and methods for measuring, monitoring and displaying health status data. The third module discusses different types of epidemiological studies (analytical and descriptive) and briefly introduces the steps involved in the investigation of outbreaks.
