Subject outline
In this subject, students learn to read the counselling literature with a critical eye. Students are required to review research-based literature in the counselling domain and to demonstrate a capacity to analyse research reports related to counselling theory and practice. Close attention is paid to research studies aimed at furthering knowledge of the effectiveness of various theoretical approaches and practices with particular client groups in specific settings. Students will be expected to demonstrate familiarity with selected quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, and with their strengths and limitations when applied to specific fields of enquiry.
