Subject outline
In this subject students examine the structure and function of the Orientation and Mobility profession as well as principles and theories of Orientation and Mobility Instruction for people with blindness/low vision. Content includes: historical perspectives and development of a theoretical basis; ethics in re/habilitation; developmental issues and functional problems of blindness and/or low vision for the child, the adult and the person with multiple disabilities. At the completion of the subject, the student will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the role of the Orientation and Mobility Specialist in the re/habilitation system and evaluate the relevant literature.
