Subject outline

In this subject students will focus on the development of foundation knowledge and clinical skills that are essential to competent perioperative nursing practice. Students will examine a variety of issues related to perioperative nursing practice such as: the role of the perioperative nurse, legal issues, documentation, sterilisation, asepsis and instrumentation. The subject examines in detail the pathophysiology, procedural sequencing and equipment needs of a broad range of procedures in a variety of surgical specialties.
