Subject outline

The range of communication disorders considered in this subject include stuttering, cleft palate, deafness, hearing loss, communication after a stroke, and other hearing disorders. Through lectures, seminars, tutorials and group work, you will learn about treatments, stigma, history and the use of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health. You will also learn about the emergent roles of speech pathologists, and audiologists, and their professional innovations. Your learning in this subject will be assessed through your lecture notes, journal reports and portfolio.
