In this capstone subject, students will explore aspects of advanced physiology, focusing on physiological principles and their applications, and recent research findings. The content is investigated from a theoretical and practical viewpoint, including applications in the fields of pathophysiology and pharmacology. A major focus of the practical component is the development of scientific research skills and team work skills. Students will engage in a semester-long independent research project that encompasses all components of the scientific method. At the completion of semester, students will present their independent research work in written, oral, and poster format. Development of research skills, scientific writing skills, communicating to the public, and oral presentation skills are of particular importance in Advanced Human Physiology B. An additional focus of this capstone subject is for students to continue to investigate potential career paths in the Human Biosciences.
