Subject outline

This subject is designed to promote linguistic, cultural and translation skills. The subject is offered in bilingual mode with key topics in translation theory provided in English, accompanied by seminars conducted in the target language (French, Italian, Spanish). Students will have the opportunity to translate a range of text types, including literary texts, informative texts, advertising and audiovisual texts. The subject is designed for students with strong language skills, who desire and in-depth knowledge of the language and culture of the focus country. While it is not a professional qualification, a part of a language degree it offers a pathway towards professional translation and/or interpreter training.
