Subject outline
In this subject students focus on the structure and content of technology curriculum, including Design and Technology Systems, Engineering and Food Technology. Students also consider the place and role of Technology in the structure of VELS, VCE and VCAL. Studies in this subject will develop proficiency in a range of approaches associated with the design process and relevant to the Design & Technology Curriculum. Students will develop an understanding of the nature of the links between teaching and learning which are practical and theoretical, between the Technology curriculum and their personal trade/industrial knowledge and experience.

Special conditions: One year of study in Technology Studies which includes studies in a range of materials and systems. Teachers who wish to specialise in a particular material or system must hold one of the following in the specialist area: (a) Sub-major study or (b) Industry or VET qualifications equivalent to Certificate IV or higher or (c) Certificate of Proficiency in a relevant trade area
