This subject is for postgraduate and later year undergraduate students and aligns with the La Trobe Essential of Global Citizenship. It is suitable for students from all language backgrounds, including native speakers and those who use English as an additional language.The subject analyses the role of English as a global language in two separate modules.The module Global citizenship and intercultural communication, considers the value of active involvement in the global world and the role of English language as a tool of global interaction. The module, English language and power considers the role of access to opportunity and analyses the role of English as a lingua franca and a world language.
