Subject outline
In this subject, students analyse both theoretical and practical aspects of a variety of sports and skills, on and off-campus. The off-campus sessions are a series of workshops for two sports; Gymnastics and Athletics. In these workshops, students are taught to perform the skills of each sport, and introduced to the theory and practice of how to teach those skills in a progressive skill learning sequence. In the on-campus sessions, students are introduced to the theory behind sports performance analysis. They then use their understanding of the theory to analyse a sport performance by designing an appropriate notation system to collect relevant data. Students interpret the data collected and provide feedback and strategies on how to improve future performance in the selected sport. Physical & Outdoor Education students undertake an 8 day Practicum as part of this subject.
