Subject outline

In this subject you will develop an understanding of the complex contexts that surround mental health and wellbeing issues for children and adolescents in schools. An approach based on risk and resilience will be explored. Case studies relating to mental health challenges for individuals relating to depression, anxiety, eating disorders, conduct disorders and obsessive and compulsive disorders will be used to advance understanding of students' thoughts, beliefs, feelings about complex contexts that arise in their life experiences, and their presenting behaviours. Whole school and individualised approaches to prevention and well-being will be analysed.
