Subject outline
In this subject students examine and reflect on how the socio-cultural context influences both the construction and interpretation of any multimodal text. In particular the socio cultural reproduction or positioning of teachers through video, text, media and literature. To understand the effect that the socio-cultural context has on the meaning of the text, students need to know that a viewer's interpretation of a visual text will be influenced by their: - identity and sense of self - beliefs, attitudes and value systems - alliances to social groups and cultures.
