Subject outline

In this subject students will refine their understanding of classroom practice and develop teaching strategies to manage a range of learning environments effectively. Students undertake 15 days of supervised teaching placement and the accompanying program informs students' professional school experiences. Students will conduct critical and sustained reflection and evaluation in relation to several related and vital areas. These include: lesson planning/preparation; alternative instructional/management approaches; the development of productive working relationships in the classroom; theoretical positions directly related to successfully managing diverse classrooms; strategies for involving, and working effectively, sensitively and confidentially with parents/carers; and the establishment and maintenance of a comprehensive classroom mangement plan.
