DTN5DPC
2014
Credit points: 30
Subject outline
This subject focuses on the dietetic management of specialised conditions including eating disorders, infectious diseases, injuries, brain injury, burns, pressure ulcers and wounds, and specialised paediatric disorders. In this subject you will extend prior learning with the aim of reaching entry-level practice competency in individual dietetic case management. Translation of dietetic theory into practice will occur through a hospital placement. During this placement you will undertake individual dietetic case management of patients/clients, with specific diseases, and integrate all aspects of the dietetic care process, including hospital food service. You will provide nutrition education and counselling to patients, participate in multidisciplinary team management and discharge planning for patients, and advocate for nutrition services and interventions. By the end of the placement you will be expected to manage a caseload of patients.
