Subject outline

In this subject students are offered an intense learning-by-immersion experience into the theory and practice of international development in a developing country through a placement in an in-country development organisation. The development organisation may include non-government organisations and development-related academic research centres working in the areas of community development, displacement, refugee services and advocacy, human rights, gender and development, environment, and sustainable development. The placement, seminars and written assignments will focus on students' learning and reflection about the theory and practice of development.
