Subject outline
This subject develops concepts taught in Rural Health, building on the basis of health determinants and applying them more directly to oral health and the prevention of oral disease. The overall aim of this subject is to prepare students for community dentistry by teaching the concepts of health planning, health education and health promotion. This subject also provides a context for the provision of oral health service delivery models in Australia and the potential constraints that exist. The use of scientific literature and the impact of preventive dentistry and dental public health in the future practice of dentistry are covered.
