Subject outline

This unit introduces the students to the concepts and principles of sustainability through a series of leading lectures. Workshops support these lectures and address the concepts of the ecological footprint, limits to growth, old and new infrastructure, green-house-gas abatement/emissions and infrastructure future shock. An understanding of the concepts and principles of sustainability is reinforced with a visit to a practising permaculture establishment where the concept of integration across the disciplines is demonstrated.
